Promote understanding of type - Use Belbin or MBTI assessment
Promote the use of the DRIVE model to help with the structure of meetings
Provide an independent facilitator to observe, and report (to the team) on team work performance
Specify the purpose clearly and accept the results

The understanding of ‘type’ helps team members to appreciate their own deficiencies and to appreciate how other members can fill the gaps.
The DRIVE model is a useful tool to assist the team in planning meetings and monitoring their progress towards the goal.
With the best will in the world, members involved in the team are unable to rationally assess the efficiency of the teams operation.
An independent facilitator, trained in team working methods and with a bag of useful ‘tools’ can prove invaluable.
Decide what you want the team to do and give them all the information you can, including any political considerations to bear in mind, and then trust them!
