If departments take the view that they need someone on each company team in order to safeguard the department’s position, then the team is doomed to failure. Similarly, if the team is not taken seriously or given a clear remit and authority to take decisions, nothing will be achieved. Even with a clear purpose and commitment from directors, the team still needs to understand how to work together.
